I've been during CG animation professionally for 15 years and my first reaction to this was anger! Don't get me wrong. When ever I see work from an artist that totally impresses me to the core (which is rare) I start to see how inferior my work is. Syd Mead makes me feel this way, now Alex Roman. Extremely beautiful film. Surpasses Avatar in it's dignity, appreciation for the arts, and over all style.

Roger Deakins, ASC BSC had his hand in the virtual cinematography of Wall-E. I thought the same thing when I saw it... who lensed this?!
Hey Ben,
Yeah, I know. I was trying to find a link to an old featurette, but it came up short.
There was a great article in POST (or Millimeter), about the DPs they brought in. The main things were lens abberations, bokeh, color rendering, etc.
Very cool stuff.

Kevin,
Blade Runner is my easily my favorite sci-fi movie. Syd Mead is a big reason why.
I speak to your other comment in the next episode of gearbox.
