thec47.com is like biscotti ... goes best with a warm cup of coffee early in the morning...

Good call on the dimmer.. I try to stay away from Impact brand but have often wondered where to find good dimmers on the cheap...

Best,
G

Here's a good choice for lights up to 1000W for only $20:

It's a 'router speed control' for woodworking. I've used it on tons of shoots and it works like a charm. Plus it has it's own fuse!

As you know Austria is different therefore this little thing looks different here ;-)

I guess it has an additional feature, you can dimm this thing itself by making a loop...

That's all for now :-)

Apart from the interesting princing policy of IKEA (7,99 US-$, 8,99€ in Germany and 5,99€ in Austria), all the different IKEA-Websites say that the DIMMA is for lights from 25 to 150W.

Bob, you beat me to it. I use the same thing, router speed control from HF. If you follow their sales you can get the speed controller for as little as $10 but even at $20 it is cheaper than the parts to make it yourself and it is normally better built also.

Peter,

In Austria you also have special chocolates made by people who in my mind must be like Tim Burton.

Hey Jem...or anybody else....have you had any sound problems as a result of these inexpensive dimmers? I think I heard somewhere.... they can cause buzz or interference with mics if not grounded properly?
