I will begin soon using a shoebox pinhole camera for all my work. I am redefining "aggressive behavior." I hope Apple doesn't sue me for patent infringement.
Seriously, the new Sonys look enticing. Being more a video guy, the full frame sensor camcorder is looking particularly good. I've never particularly warmed to the DSLR form factor. I'm not confused by the three new cameras -- well, the names could have been much better. They each seem to serve a specific mission niche, though I would concede there is overlap.
If I had to rate them in terms of desirability for me and my world, I'd go with the camcorder first, then the compact camera, then the DSLR last. I'm not putting the DSLR last because of a bias, but only because I can see greater utility in my use case for the other two.
In most cases, not really. Especially if the price difference is not a consideration. The FS700 is a great single camera system for an owner-operator but the C300 has better ergonomics (IMHO), better codec, clear scan, a timecode port, a genlock port, log gamma, weather proof housing, etc.
I think the FS700 is great bang for the buck but the C300 plays with others really well.

Just out of curiosity, can you think of an example of when you would use an fs700 rather than a c300? Other than for slow motion...
