Jem I have a question only remotely related to today's episode which, by the way, is great. Does the device behind you on the right help with focus? Thanks. Jill.
Jem, I originally asked because I find it sometimes challenging to get proper focus with my 5DmkII. Some of my footage comes out a little soft. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I would always copy the data to a drive before transcoding. I did a gearbox on the card reader I use. It's a Lexar that takes a CF card and SD card. Nice combo when using the H4N and either the 5DMKII or 7D.
Jem, Your offer is very much appreciated. However, as I am currently based in France, I'll try to get one locally. Thanks again for taking the time to follow up and keep the conversation running.

Hi Jill,
Thanks for the kind words.
Yes, that this a focus chart in the BG. You have keen eyes!
I use it as my "stand in" for framing and focus when shooting gearbox (obviously not for today's post episode).
Here's an inexpensive one...

Loving these workflow episodes, thanks for sharing Jem!
Quick question: what card reader do you use? Will a cheap one hold well when transcoding footage directly into the CF?

Jill,
Call Gregger at Abel Cine Tech's Chicago office. He should have a free Fuji focus chart.
