Jem,
You're the man. I kinda feel like you did that just for me. Thanks! Super helpful.
Have a great weekend. Looking forward to the green screen episodes.

Jem, I think Mathew took the words right out of my mouth. Great show. Roll on the green screen.
Thanks.

The Artemis viewfinder app for the iphone supports the 7D and 5D. It's great for showing how the different focal lengths of lens would view the world...

Jem,

Talking about magazines that tailor to the video world, one that I have found to be a good resource is HD Video Pro. They have only been in print for about a year or two but have a lot of great articles and showcase some very interesting gear. In a past issue, they took the top ASC's in film and tested the top eight HD cameras against each other. And it usually has over 100 pages. I've found it at Barnes N Noble in the photo section.

Yeah, the stuff by the guys over at Chemical Wedding is great. I've been meaning to get the Director's Viewfinder app to use it with Storyboard Composer (formerly Hitchcock).

HD Video Pro is probably the best rag out there right now on HD video. There's a copy sitting around here somewhere.

Thanks for watching.

hi jem.
i watch your show everyday on my lunch break, and it think it's great.
i am really interested in the Led lights that you use. You said once that you were going to use them outdoor, and show us the result, but we never saw it (did we?). I would really like to see how they perform in the field, how they mix with sun light...Etc
thanks.

Hi Vincent,

I said that? Yikes!

Well, I think the spot version of the light would perform well outdoors (like a 1x1 litepanel). The flood might disperse too much.

Guess I'll have to officially add it to the list for a future gearbox!

Thanks for watching.

thanks for your answer.
one more question: do you think the small alzo led light that you use can be mixed with the led light 600. could it be used as a rim light ?

Vincent,

The Alzo 770L could be used as a rim light, but a spot like the CL-256 from Cool Lights would be much better. You can get that light with a Panny or Sony battery back. It's a bit bigger but more versatile than the Alzo for interviews (dimmable, 3 banks of lights, brighter).

But, in a pinch you could use the Alzo. It's more of a flood/fill though and I would use it for that. It won't give you the same control.

thanks for that info.

Quick tip for the users of Canon t1i (500d) The only camera left in the canon family without manual control in video mode :

I use other than canon lens with the aperture ring on it (Like the 50mm 1.8 nikon)
