Hey Gem I totally understand you on this one. Sometimes those retro experiences of the past seem to tug at us at times. I haven't seen the movie yet but thanks for sharing your experience. A nice sappy soundtrack would've made this post much more dramatic and emo. Hahaha. But yeah I enjoy great visual work that sparks inspiration. I can sense your creative neurons churning now. Take care!

I hear John Williams and his tiny violin orchestra playing the soundtrack.
Cue tears...

I'm totally with you on Avatar. It's been four days since I saw it and it still hasn't sunk in how good it was. When I came out of the cinema I never had that rush of seeing a good film or the disappointed feeling of seeing a rotten on and that's when I realised that my brain had just been overwhelmed. I've been trying to find time to see it again but Santas big plans are getting in the way. I might just make it before Christmas turns up.
Hey Jem,
I couldn't agree more.
I went to Avatar in 3D today (my first 3D movie ever) and I'm still in awe.
Literally, I'm speechless...

Hey Gem!
I agree with most everything you said. Although I can't perceive a 3D movie due to my funky eyeballs, the 2D version was still a major event. I'm not a big fan of composition that favors 3D imagery over telling the story, but this the work of Cameron. It always pulled you right into the action. Every time he was in danger, YOU felt like you were in danger. As for the $300,000,000 budget, it's easy to see where it went - a whole lotta work went into it!
Thanks for keeping us all in the "know" with your insights!

Hey Archie,
I've got a set of those funky eyeballs as well! I have a slightly lazy left eye and it makes focusing on a 3D movie a little difficult. I can do it, but maybe I should have actually worn that eyepatch when I was a kid :-)
