Notes: 1) Play full screen and in HD to really see the noise. 2) I'm going to try and shoot the same general set up tomorrow but with the C300. Different location, but it should give you an idea of the difference at 3200 ISO. I may not post until early Tuesday depending on what time I get back from the city.

I gotta say Jem, without HD pixel peeping, in general this has been my favorite lighting setup. I think its the Jem skin tone, CTB kicker, denim looking top and studio curtain folding. Oh, and the drum kit reference : )

Thanks Brent. With the C300 this set up would also be clean. There's a lot of noise and blockiness because it's shot at 3200 on a DSLR.

I will do a similar set up soon with the C300.

This was also one of my favorite set ups. I think you get a lot of color contrast between the blue background and your skin tone. On the iPhone I can't see any noise.

Yep gotta admit, after web compression 3200 iso is not a problem at all . If you did not tell us , i would not have looked different from any other episode.

I found your comments about available light very interesting. With the latest low light camera sensors I think it's possible for some to forget about the quality of the light because we're so fixated on quantity. That said, I'm excited that with a keen eye we can now practice the art of low light shooting by supplementing available light and following your very nice lighting plan.
Were you shooting at f4 on the EF24-105mm?
