EZ Flag
Avenger Flag Kit
What's new is old...

Not sure if I would use the EZ Grip off of the hot shoe. Never have. Looks interesting but it could definitely put stress on the hot shoe, especially on a windy day like we had. I think the Avenger kit mounted to a tripod or the arm of the fluid head on a slider would be a safer bet. Or, the EZ Flag off of a cold shoe adapter like the ones from Nasty Clamps.

This is just a scout so we're messing around with ideas. Obviously we wouldn't use a piece of paper (in frame), to flag for lens flare.

Did you have low cut ON on the H1? It's still pretty rumbly and I'm thinking it's wind noise somehow coupling through the redhead. I'm just curious if that lo cut is good enough to reduce that.

Dennis,

No low cut on. This was down and dirty.

It was extremely windy though so there would be problems anyway.

A good trick for blocking is to wrap a piece of paper around the lens and tape it so that it stays put like a cylinder. It does cover the focus ring though but you can pre-set that first. Because it's a cylinder, it stays nice a rigid and you can slide it out if you need to adjust for zoom.

Yep. Great suggestion.

Blackwrap works well for that application.
