Monday it is...

So sorry. Back up against the wall with some serious deadlines. ALL of my time is being dedicated to this one.

I promise a full week of episodes next week.

On Assignment

Not going to be able to get an episode out today. I will hopefully be able to squeeze one out tomorrow. That sounded so wrong!

ace... Go Dirk!

I just did a session on 3rd party plug-ins at Postapalooza. Showed stuff in FCP 7, Motion 5 and FCP X. The new 10.0.1 update for FCP X seems to have fixed the constant crashing issue with X.

So, I figured I would test out some stuff I've had for a while. LiveToon has a somewhat limited application, but if you get hired to do the next Charles Schwab (Ask Chuck), campaign you might just need it. Very cool plug-in that can be used for much more than what I'm doing in this episode.

A77 (good overview of the camera)
A77 MKIII...

This is from Friday's session because it was the first episode I had recorded with the A77. It's an interesting camera. The 16-50 f/2.8 lens is really nice and the handling of the camera and the LCD position is also nice.

I would say that it's the first real alternative to the Canon DSLRs that has an APS-C sensor but it isn't a huge leap forward three years later. The auto tracking and focus works well, but you can't lock down your shutter speed in that mode so it's a bit of a deal breaker for me. I would want to have full manual control when using it even if that meant keeping my aperture at a 5.6 or higher so that the auto focus and tracking systems could work well.

Sticking with the 5DMKII for now but the Sony is definitely worth a look. It can record 60p at 1080 BTW. Pretty cool!
